Spirit Week Bonfire

On Tuesday, October 14, 2014 the Lancaster High School Student Union sponsored the 30th Annual Bonfire during Lancaster-Depew Week. The Bonfire ran from 6-9 p.m. in the South Lot of Lancaster High School. Approximately 1,200 students, faculty, parents, and roughly 500 community members attended. BRING A VETERAN TO SCHOOL DAY

This effort was conducted as a coordinated effort with our school's Social Science department. The idea was to closely coincide our efforts with the actual Veteran's Day Holiday, November 11. Sugar Cube Ice Castles

Sugar cube ice castles are a great winter activity! Students always want to build ice castles outside, and there is never enough snow - or else it is way too cold. We solve that problem by having a sugar cube ice castle contest. The contest is advertised for a week before a long weekend during the winter. Huntsville High School
Huntsville, TX

Activities for Animals. The chapter at Huntsville High School in Huntsville, TX, partnered with a local deli to raise money for their local Humane Society. Each sale of a sandwich generated a donation to the chapter’s project. Teachers at the school could order sandwiches in support of the chapter. Members would pick up and deliver the food to the supportive faculty members. The chapter’s project generated $210 in contributions for the local animal shelter.

Arlington High School
Arlington, NE

Halloween and Hunger. Arlington High School in Arlington, NE, used Halloween this year to sponsor “Trick or Treat so Others Can Eat.” The chapter collected more than 630 cans to contribute to the local food pantry.

Hastings High School
Hastings, ME

Helping the Hungry in Hastings. The 71 NHS chapter members at Hastings High School in Hastings, ME, collected 5,268 pounds of nonperishable food along with cash contributions to support the local family services office representing nearly a 45% improvement over last year’s collections.
