Celebration of Service
In November, at the National Conference in Orlando, a new "Celebration of Service" was organized for all delegates on Friday night. The following groups and organizations supported this effort with materials and/or personnel, sharing their missions and their outreach. As a way of thanking these groups for their support, we list their contact information below for all chapters to share.
SolesUnited: This is a first-of-its-kind recycled footwear donation program. Give back your worn-out Crocs shoes to be recycled into new shoes and they will be donated to people in need around the world.
Shoe4africa: Donate your athletic shoes which are shipped to Africa.
Care Bags: Collect donations of age-appropriate items to fill care bags for displaced youth all over the world. Note: Annie Wignall, one of the cofounders of this project was a winner of the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. See www.prudential.com/spirit for more information about this annual awards program.
National Relief Network: NRN organizes disaster relief activities for groups.
American Diabetes Association: The ADA sponsors walks for diabetes activities to raise money for research and awareness-building.
Ronald McDonald House: Pop tab collection projects help raise money for these homes for families when their children are undergoing medical services. Visit www.rmhc.org for additional supportive project ideas.
Prudential Spirit of Community Awards: Bria Brown and Shanna Decker, 2008 national honorees in the PSOC program, each support ongoing projects. You can read about them, their projects, and other national honorees at www.prudential.com/spirit.
Souper Bowl of Caring: Looking for a way to make Super Bowl Weekend more meaningful? Visit www.souperbowl.org to learn how you can raise money to fight hunger in 2009.
