NHS Scholarship Program

NASSP, the parent organization of the National Honor Society, has awarded the NHS Scholarships since 1946, providing more than $10 million in scholarships to outstanding NHS members. Now in its 67th year, the program provides $200,000 annually in scholarship awards. View a full list of the 2012 award recipients.
The deadline for nominations for the 2013 NHS Scholarship Program has passed and the online nomination process is now closed. The program will reopen on October 1, 2013 for the 2013-14 school year. Winners will be notified in May and scholarship checks will be mailed this summer. A full list of winners will be posted on the NHS website in June.
Eligibility
Only currently affiliated, active NHS chapters may participate in the NHS Scholarship Program and nominate students for the scholarships. Please use the online search tool to check chapter status. Visit www.nhs.us/Membership for information regarding submitting adviser changes and annual renewals.
Members [students] who are seniors in good standing of an active chapter are eligible to be nominated by their chapter to be considered for one of the scholarships. The phrase "seniors in good standing" is generally taken to mean members of the current graduating class (12th graders) who are continuing to meet the standards by which they were selected and who are up-to-date on their chapter obligations.
Students cannot apply directly to NHS and nomination forms cannot be sent to students or parents by the national office. The nomination procedures must be obtained through the high school NHS Chapter Adviser.
Chapters may nominate between two to five seniors from their chapter to compete. The number of nominees per chapter is based on graduating class size. Small schools (1-100) may nominate two seniors; medium schools (101-250) may nominate three seniors; large schools (251-400) may nominate four seniors; and very large schools (401+) may nominate five seniors.
