Food Bank Volunteering

Members of the Belvidere High School Student Council in Illinois spent their spring break the right way by volunteering at a local food bank for a day. Members got to experience and learn more about how important their volunteer commitment is to our community. Our Food Bank helps serve millions of people food each year and it is a great opportunity for us to get involved. Community Welcome Buckets

We started a project this year in NHS where we make "Welcome Buckets" for anyone that moves into our school district, whether they have school aged children or not.  We then ask teams of NHS students to distribute the buckets to the new homeowners. The buckets include a calendar, sports passes, promotional DVD, a copy of the school newspaper and some cookies made by the high school foods classes.  We thought this would be a great way to get new members… Read More »

Operation Gratitude. Using guidance from the national Operation Gratitude website, NHS members from Epic Charter School in Oklahoma City, OK, took a day to write nearly 60 letters to military personnel serving overseas.

Community Welcome Buckets. The chapter at Milton Area High School, in Milton, PA, helped welcome new residents to their community by distributing buckets with welcome gifts. The project aimed to ensure support for schools from the whole community. They were also featured in the local paper!

Friends of Tree Planting. Chapter members from Benson High School in Portland, OR, joined with a local community group to plant trees and beautify their community.
