Feed the Troops

On December 15, fourteen members of Student Council volunteered to assist with honoring our local military organization, the 702nd Army Engineer Company, by serving them a holiday dinner. Kindness Week

Our middle school, with over 1800 students, is always looking for a way to encourage kind behavior.  To encourage our staff and student body to engage in kind behavior, we organized a "Kindness Week" in December.  We wore our "Be Kind...like Josh" (Josh Steven's Foundation shirts) one day.  We had students sign a "Kindness Pledge" at lunch and hung it up for the school to see.  We gave out free Kindness Grams that students were able to send to one another and we delivered… Read More »

Buena Vista Student Council Toys for Tots

Buena Vista High School Student Council's Toys for Tots program is a student run program that has been in existence for over 20 years. (It is not affiliated with the USMC program.) Each year, our student council plays the role of Santa Claus for over 200 children.  This program would not be made possible without the support of our community, as it is entirely funded from donations. Leipsic High School
Leipsic, OH

Habitat Helpers. Chapter members spent a Saturday in July working on a house being built by Habitat for Humanity in their community. Members washed down walls in preparation for painting and cleaned the entire house.

St. Walter Elementary School
Blue Island, IL

Support for Developmentally Disabled Students. NJHS members spent two days this summer teaching and motivating students with developmental disabilities at the Blue Cap Center in their community. In addition to the personal interactions this summer, chapter members raised and donated $800 in support of the center. 

Strasburg High School
Strasburg, VA

New FCCLA Leader. Congratulations to NHS member Laura Taylor on being elected as the new National President of Family, Community, and Career Leaders of America (FCCLA). Ms. Taylor attended the organization’s National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, TX in early July and returned home with a national title to add to her resume. Best of luck to Laura as she undertakes this important new responsibility.
