National Honor Society Scholarships

The 2009 National Honor Society Scholarship Winners Announced May 22, 2009

The National Association of Secondary School Principals, parent organization for the National Honor Society, is pleased to announce the 2009 scholarship winners for the National Honor Society Scholarship Program.

Congratulations to all 150 state finalists that receive $1,000 scholarships; the 53 state winners that receive $1,500 scholarships; and to the regional winners who win $2,500 scholarships. The national winner for this prestigious scholarship wins a $13,000 scholarship.

History
NASSP has awarded the NHS Scholarships since 1946, providing more than $10 million in scholarships to outstanding NHS members. Now in its 62nd year, the program provides $200,000 annually in scholarship awards. Only chapters with current affiliation are eligible to participate in the scholarship program. The National Honor Society is a program of the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

2010 Scholarship Program
2010 nomination instructions and information will be posted on October 1, 2009 at the official NHS Web site.

Only NHS chapter advisers have access to the nomination instructions and materials. Students are required to fill out the nomination form on line. The scholarship material can be downloaded by logging into the “adviser zone.” Scholarship packets are no longer mailed to schools.

Who is Eligible?
The National Honor Society Scholarship program is a nomination process. Students cannot apply but must be nominated through their high school National Honor Society chapter. Nomination forms cannot be sent to students or parents but must be obtained through the high school NHS Chapter Adviser. If you are a high school senior, a member in good standing of your school's National Honor Society chapter, and wish to be considered for nomination, contact your local high school NHS Chapter Adviser.

2010 Postmark Deadline
The postmark deadline to submit nomination materials for the 2010 NHS scholarship program is January 16, 2010.
