TRENDING IN THE ADVISER ONLINE COMMUNITY

“I’m wondering how y’all keep kids interested in being members and avoid it feeling like one more thing on their already crazy to-do lists. Specifically meetings! Ours are just updates on projects and deadlines. How do I make them more fun?!”

“I feel like every year we try something new when it comes to gathering character references for the application, and it never seems like it works right. Does anyone have a method that works?”

Honor Society Tips and Tools
Following National Policies

Each year, the national office investigates formal complaints about the management of Honor Society chapters. This past academic year, there was a 100 percent increase in the number of formal complaints filed against chapters for chapter management issues and Honor Society policy violations. Some of these cases were serious enough to warrant considering revocation of the school’s Honor Society charter. To help your chapter curb complaints, we have created a webpage with a link to the online complaint form. Often, formal complaints could have been prevented if the appropriate national policies were known and changes were made proactively before the matter escalated to the national office. Visit www.nhs.us/policy or www.njhs.us/policy for information and to watch a video detailing the complaint process. If you have questions about chapter procedures, contact the national office at [email protected] or [email protected].
