Honor Society Update

Springtime means induction season for many Honor Society chapters. As you plan this pinnacle of your chapter’s calendar year, tap into resources from the national office to help make the experience a memorable one for students and advisers.

Adviser Resource Center

The Adviser Resource Center has everything you need to get started on planning your ceremony and making it something that fits your school and community. Our “Inducting Members” infographic guides you through the important components of the candle-lighting service, such as theme, music, and location. You can also find welcome letter templates, invitations, and sample induction ceremony scripts and pledges. Log in and visit the Inducting Members section of the Adviser Resource Center at www.nhs.us/arc and www.njhs.us/arc.

Adviser Online Community

Sometimes the most valuable input can come from peers going through the same challenges and victories that you encounter in your work. The Adviser Online Community connects Honor Society advisers from around the world, providing comfort, camaraderie, and a wealth of shared experiences. Troubleshoot ideas, hear tips from veteran advisers, and get advice on how to put a creative spin on your chapter’s induction ceremony. Visit https://community.nassp.org and log in to join the conversations and start your own.

NHS/NJHS Store

The adviser store on the NHS and NJHS websites has all the chapter supplies you need to pull off a memorable induction ceremony—find traditional (and flameless!) candles, candle holders, membership certificates, membership pins, and more! There’s even a special CD with classical arrangements that can help set the tone for your Honor Society induction. Visit www.nhs.us/store or www.njhs.us/store to get started.

NHS Student Store

NHS members now have access to their own student store where they can purchase apparel, jewelry, gifts, and more to show their NHS pride! There are also graduation items to commemorate seniors’ achievements. Chapter members must have an active student account in order to purchase items from the student store, so encourage your members to visit www.nhs.us/studentaccount to sign up. Advisers will then need to verify each active student so they can access the NHS Student Store and other online member functions. Students can visit www.nhs.us/store/students to begin browsing.
