Everyday Pillars of NHS

is a commitment to learning and growing on an educational path.

  • Everyday Service
is seeking out and engaging in meaningful service, not simply doing acts of service to fulfill a school, district, or program requirement, or to collect hours.

  • Everyday Leadership
is carrying oneself with dignity and taking ownership and responsibility for one’s own actions and participation.

  • Everyday Character
is valuing diverse cultures and building relationships that reflect love of self but also concern for others.

We are establishing a new NHS chapter. How do we get started?

Once you are affiliated with NHS, your new adviser will have access to several resources that will help kick-start a new chapter or rejuvenate an existing one. In the Adviser Resource Center, you will find a section for “New Chapters & New Advisers” that includes a sample constitution, an adviser skills checklist, a survival guide, and more. Your adviser will also have access to the Adviser Online Community, where they can connect with new and veteran advisers from across the country.

What are the benefits of NHS for students?

NHS membership is invitation-only. And once inducted, NHS student members are members for life. As members, students have opportunities to expand their leadership and are called to serve as role models in valuing the mindsets and actions related to scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Additionally, students are able to apply for the NHS Scholarship and attend college admission and financial aid planning webinars.

With a National Honor Society (NHS) affiliation, you give your most ambitious students a place to develop their leadership skills and learn how to be an active citizen in their community—setting them up for success that lasts far beyond academia.
