Create an Account With the National Honor Society

Student members of NHS are encouraged to create their very own student account. Upon doing so, they will be able to have their member status verified by their adviser and receive the most up-to-date information about our programs and activities delivered straight to their inbox. Learn about the process below and create your NHS student account today.

What Do I Need to Do?

Students

You will be required to provide the following information:

  1. Your name
  2. Your email address
    • Do not use a school-issued email address. There are restrictions on usage of these email addresses. Please use a personal email address (Google or Yahoo are options) or a private email.
  3. Your school’s name, state, and country
    • TIP: If the school name does not appear in your first search attempt, consider alternate spellings, such as JFK for John F. Kennedy. When searching for your school, you can use your chapter’s affiliation number to confirm you have the correct school. Your adviser can give you this number.
    • You must select “SCHOOL” as the address type; do not select “Home”.
  4. School role (select “NHS student”)
  5. A phone number (which can be your own or your school’s number)

You must also accept the Terms and Conditions and create a password (six or more characters). Once you create an account, your adviser will need to log in and verify that you are an active student in your chapter. Until then, your account will be inactive, and you will not have access to some of the member functions such as the NHS Scholarship, digital badging, and the student store.

FAQ

Is creating an account a requirement?

No, creating an account is not a membership requirement for you or students, but rather a way for us to share updates about our student programs and services directly to their inboxes, similar to what advisers also receive.

Does NASSP share student information?

NASSP does not share student information with third parties.

Can a parent or guardian create an account?

While it is possible for a parent or guardian to create an account on behalf of a student, we encourage students to create accounts for themselves to receive program updates directly. NASSP does not offer parent or guardian accounts.

How do advisers verify student accounts?

To verify a student account: log in and click “My Account” at the top of the page. Click on the tab in the middle of the page with your school name on it, and then the “Students” tab to access your roster. Check the verification box next to the student’s name and then, “Verify Selected” to save your work. Here’s a quick video explaining the process.

What is digital badging?

Digital badges are web-enabled versions of a credential, certification, or learning outcome which can be verified in real time, online. Check out www.nhs.us/badge for more information!

Is there a deadline to verify students?

Yes. Student members must be verified by their adviser by July 31 of their graduation year. At that time, verified student members will have their accounts converted to program alumni, while student members who have not been verified will be removed from the school’s record of membership. Students cannot retroactively be verified or be converted to program alumni after July 31 of their graduation year.

Can NHS alumni create accounts?

No, alumni cannot create accounts at this time. Please note that we are also unable to retroactively verify alumni accounts, so we cannot award digital badges. If you are interested in store purchases, please contact us at [email protected]

Do NJHS alumni who are inducted into an NHS chapter need to create a new account?

Yes, NJHS alumni moving to an NHS chapter will need to create a new student account. Students cannot link their existing account to a new school online

Will advisers see alumni students in the online roster?

No, alumni records will be excluded from the active roster. Advisers: if you need a copy of your alumni records, email us at [email protected]
